How Topics work on Threads
Threads uses the first hashtag in your caption to set the Topic of your post.
Unlike other platforms, hashtags on Threads aren’t clickable or used for search.
Instead, the first hashtag simply helps categorize your post under a Topic.
👉 Important:
- The first hashtag you type in your caption is used to set the post’s Topic.
- This hashtag won’t appear in your published caption once live.
- You don’t need (and shouldn’t add) multiple hashtags; just include one that best represents your post’s topic.
👉 Example:
If you write: "Exploring new recipes this weekend! #Cooking". Your post’s Topic will be Cooking, and that hashtag won’t be visible in your caption once published.
