How to schedule & publish Facebook Stories

Learn how to post a Story on Facebook from SocialBee.

What are Facebook Stories?

Facebook Stories are short photo or video posts that disappear after 24 hours. They appear at the top of the Facebook news feed and are designed for quick, engaging updates that feel more personal and immediate.

Stories are an important part of social media marketing, helping you stay visible and connect authentically with your audience. Many social media managers use Stories to share behind-the-scenes updates, promote time-sensitive offers, and strengthen brand awareness.

Can you schedule Facebook Stories?

Yes, you can schedule Facebook Stories through SocialBee. Upload your Story, choose the date and time, and SocialBee will automatically publish it for you. This helps you plan and manage your Stories alongside all your other scheduled posts and social media platforms.

Meta Business Suite also supports scheduling Facebook posts and Stories, but only for Pages and profiles in Professional Mode. Personal Profiles do not have access to Meta’s content scheduling features; you can only publish Stories from the Facebook mobile app or browser version.

If you want to schedule Stories for both Pages and Personal Profiles while keeping your entire content calendar in one place, SocialBee is the best option.

Posting Stories on different types of Facebook profiles

The way Facebook Stories are published through SocialBee depends on the type of account you’ve connected.

Type of Facebook account How Stories are Published
Facebook Page Directly through SocialBee
Facebook Personal Profile Via mobile reminders
  • Facebook Pages: Stories can be scheduled and published automatically from SocialBee.
  • Facebook Personal Profiles: Stories can be scheduled, but you’ll receive a mobile reminder to post them manually using the Facebook app.

If you’re posting to a Facebook Personal Profile, Stories can still be scheduled in SocialBee, but you’ll receive a notification (Reminder) from the SocialBee mobile app when it’s time to post, and you’ll complete the upload with a few taps. More on this later in the article.

Frequently asked questions

Can you schedule Facebook Reels with SocialBee?

Yes, you can schedule and publish Facebook Reels directly through SocialBee, but only for Facebook Pages. Reels must be under 90 seconds long and have a 9:16 aspect ratio to qualify for direct posting.

Can you post on Facebook Groups with SocialBee?

Yes, you can still post to Facebook Groups using SocialBee, but not directly. Since Meta discontinued the Facebook Groups API on April 22, 2024, all third-party social media schedulers lost the ability to publish directly to groups.

To continue sharing content, SocialBee now supports posting to Groups through Universal Posting. You can schedule and organize your group posts as usual, then publish them manually through the Facebook app when you receive a mobile reminder from SocialBee.

You can find the full setup and posting steps in this guide.

Can I add stickers, music, or polls to scheduled Facebook Stories?

When you post Facebook Stories directly through SocialBee (for Facebook Pages), interactive Story features such as stickers, music, or polls are not supported. These Stories are published automatically, and the content must follow Facebook’s media format requirements.

However, if you post via reminders (for Personal Profiles), your Story opens in the Facebook app as a native post. This means you can add stickers, music, polls, text, and other effects before sharing it.

Can you post Instagram Stories with SocialBee?

Yes, you can schedule and publish Instagram Stories through SocialBee.

For Instagram Business and Creator profiles, Stories can be posted directly through SocialBee as long as they meet Instagram’s media requirements (9:16 aspect ratio, 1080 × 1920 pixels, videos under 60 seconds).

For Personal Profiles, Stories are published via reminders. SocialBee sends you a mobile notification when it’s time to post, and you can then add interactive features such as stickers, polls, or music directly in the Instagram app before publishing.

You can find the guide to publishing Instagram Stories here.

How do Facebook Stories work compared to Feed posts?

Facebook Stories appear at the top of the app and are visible for 24 hours, while Feed posts stay permanently on your Facebook Page unless you delete them. Stories are designed for quick, visual updates that encourage more immediate engagement.

When you’re on your Business Page, you can click “Create Story” to upload a photo or video directly. In SocialBee, you can also schedule Stories for your connected Facebook Page, helping you plan both Feed posts and Stories in one place.
