How to schedule posts on Facebook Groups

Why can't I schedule posts on Facebook Groups anymore?

Meta decided to discontinue their Facebook Groups API starting April 22, 2024. This change affects your ability to post content directly to your groups using SocialBee or any other third-party tools.

Rest assured, we've found a workaround that enables you to schedule content in SocialBee.

Can I schedule Facebook Group posts with SocialBee?

Yes, you can schedule Facebook Group posts with SocialBee using Universal Posting. You’ll set up your Group as a Universal Profile, schedule your content, and then post via a quick mobile notification when it’s time to publish.

How can I connect my Facebook Group to SocialBee?

To schedule content for a Facebook Group, you have to create a Universal Profile for your Group.

Here's how to create a universal profile:

  1. Go to the SocialBee dashboard here, scroll to the Connect a new account panel, and click on “Add” under Universal Posting.

  1. Enter your account details, including profile picture and profile name. For the network, select Facebook Group. Then, click "Connect."

  1. You'll find your Facebook Group Universal Profile on your Dashboard.

What if I already have a Facebook Group added to SocialBee?

All you have to do is switch to Universal Posting from the SocialBee Dashboard (on your web browser).

To switch to Universal posting:

  • Click on the toggle next to your Facebook Group to set the account to running.

  • You'll see a pop-up appear on your screen.
  • Click on “Switch to Universal Posting”.


How to schedule Facebook posts on Groups

Scheduling posts for your Facebook Group with SocialBee lets you stay active and consistent without having to post manually. Once your group is connected through Universal Posting, you can plan your Facebook content in advance, organize it by category, and get notified when it’s time to publish. 

Here’s how to post in a Facebook group from SocialBee:

  1. Set up the SocialBee mobile app on your mobile device. Read more about this here →
    1. Download for IOS (iPhone)
    2. Download for Android
  2. Enable push notifications so you never miss an alert.
  3. On your computer or desktop app, open the SocialBee web app, log in to your account, and click “Create post” at the top of your dashboard.

  1. From the left menu, select the Universal Profile you created for your Facebook Group.

  1. In the post editor, write your caption manually or use AI to generate text and visuals automatically, or generate post ideas and stay creative with ease.

  1. Click the photo icon to search and upload a file (image or video) to your post.

  1. Click the pencil icon at the top of your image to crop, flip, or resize your visuals.

  1. If you’ve added images, click the text icon on top of each image to add alt text for accessibility.

  1. Design or source visuals directly from GIPHY, Unsplash, or Canva without leaving SocialBee.

  1. Use the Hashtag Generator (wand + # icon) to discover relevant hashtags, or click the # icon to insert a saved hashtag collection.

  1. Assign your post to a category to keep your content organized and automate your posting schedule.
  2. Choose when to publish:
    1. Click on “Post now” to share immediately.
    2. Select “Post at a specific time” to schedule your post in advance.
    3. You can also enable “Re-queue after posting” to set up recurring posts or use “Expire post” to remove it after a set date.

  1. Review your post in the real-time preview on the right side of the screen.
  2. Set your post status:
    1. Switch to “This is approved” to schedule it.
    2. Switch to “This is a draft” if it still needs review.

  1. Click “Create post.” to schedule your post.
  2. When it’s time to publish, you’ll get a push notification from the SocialBee app. 

  1. Tapping the notification will take you to the next screen, where you can view the post in more detail and proceed with the posting flow. Here's how to proceed depending on your phone's operating system:
    1. For iOS: After clicking “Post now,” your caption is automatically copied. Open the Facebook app and navigate to the group where you wish to post (go to your profile Groups). Then, manually create the post within the selected group.
    2. For Android: Clicking “Post now” automatically copies your caption and gives you options to share to your Feed, Story, or Group. Once you select “Facebook Groups,” you can proceed to create and post your content on the Facebook mobile app with just a few clicks.

Note: You can edit scheduled posts in SocialBee at any time. From the left sidebar, go to “Content,” then open the content category your post is assigned to, or navigate to the “Next posts” section. Click on the post you want to update and make any necessary changes.

You can also schedule recurring posts to stay active without creating new content all the time.

Can I post in a private Facebook Group from SocialBee?

Yes, SocialBee supports posting to both public and private Facebook Groups through Universal Posting. You just need to create a Universal Profile for your group, then schedule your post as usual. When it is time to publish, you will receive a mobile notification to finalize the post. This ensures that all group members see your content in the group or on their news feed. 

Do I have to be a Facebook Group admin to post in a Facebook Group?

No, you don’t have to be a group admin to schedule Facebook posts to Groups with SocialBee. Any member who has posting permissions in the group can share content this way. However, only group admins and moderators can manage group settings or approve content if required, natively in the Facebook app.
